UNDER 9 WAUGH LORDS V HARBORD DEVILS MATCH REPORT (8/11/08) NEW!
-
Firstly, we have to say that we were very impressed with the ground at French Forest Public School, kudos to their groundsman,
the grass was perfect as was the pitch. This is the 2nd year the Harbord Devils have played Under 9’s and with Nick, Alex
and Ty away, being 3 down we thought it may just be a day to watch the boys and drink decent coffee when the coffee van
showed up.
Our opening batsmen Jackson and Symo got our first 5 runs on the board with one wicket, showing the experience of
our opponents, it surely wasn’t for the lack of trying!
Sean and Jordan were our next batting pair – hitting an amazing seven 4’s with only one wicket made our hopes soar!
They finished their partnership with 50 runs with one wicket. Some amazing cricket was witnessed and cheered full voice from
the proud parents!
Bailey and Ben were our next two batsman - their communication skills were brilliant and even though Bailey
was feeling a little off colour the pair managed to put another 13 runs on the board. These two are improving solidly week to week.
Our last two batsman were Jack and Nathan, this pair certainly have an eye for picking the ball and knowing when to
block and when to go for it, they managed to put another 5 runs towards the score of 63 runs with 5 wickets – giving us an
average of 12.6.
Harbord Devils scored 67 runs but were out with 5 wickets giving them an average of 9.5 runs and giving the Waugh Lords another
win! We would like to thank the Harbord Devils they are great players, great sportsman lending us a fielder to make up numbers
and we look forward to playing them again later in the comp or next year.

CROMER KINGS DEFEAT HARBORD
-
It was a windy day as the Kings made their way to Beacon Hill for the game against Harbord 3. Angus was captain for the
day.
We lost the toss and Harbord put us into bat first. We got off to a shaky start losing 2 wickets in the first over however the
boys really put their heads down and batted their way out of trouble. We only lost one more wicket in the second last pair –
a fantastic effort. Angus and Joel hit a four each, Nathan struck four 4’s in his innings, Lachlan
hit a massive 6, Zac another boundary together with Charlie who also hit one. Ethan then closed out the
innings with another massive six. At the end of the innings we had scored 84 off the bat for 3 wickets together with 28 bonus
points for keeping our wickets intact for an average of 35.1.
Harbord then batted and our bowlers and fielders did a fine job. Angus took a wicket and a catch. Joel also
contributed with a wicket as did Nathan (4 wickets, 2 wicket maidens), Ethan with a wicket, Lachlan a caught
and bowled plus another catch and maidens to Angus and Zac. Some great fielding and backing up allowed the team to
restrict Harbord to just 39 runs for 9 wickets and no bonus runs.
Nathan was named Man of the Match (photo below).
Final scores were Cromer Kings av 35.1 defeated Harbord 3 av 4.4.

IN 2 CRICKET REPORT
-
What an amazing response to In2Cricket – 59 registering the first week with another 12 registering last Friday – taking the
tally to 71 little In2Cricketers for Cromer Cricket Club. It is certainly a record for us and perhaps for Cricket NSW. This
just shows you how popular the game of Cricket is becoming amongst the young ones.
In2Cricket is one of the few games kids as young as
4 can become involved in, and Cromer Cricket Club is proud to be a part of the program endorsed by Cricket NSW and Milo. We are
fortunate to have a band of Senior Players that are prepared to give up free time to help mentor all kids on Friday
afternoons. Thanks to these players, we are coping with the numbers that have registered, which were very unexpected yet pleasing!
In 2 Cricketers are as important to the clubs future as Kanga Cricketers and all of the junior teams and it is just
brilliant seeing what these kids can do and WANT to do and fantastic to see the Seniors training them… after all, In2Cricket
is all about the Kids and Cricket!

TRIVIA NIGHT A HUGE SUCCESS!
-
Cromer Cricket Club wishes to thank everyone for their support of the annual trivia night held at Cromer Primary School on
Saturday 1st March. It was fantastic to see such a large turn-out with support from both junior and senior teams.
A fantastic night of trivia, games, raffles and auctions saw the club raise in excess of $4500 for the club. A fantastic
result! Money will be used to maintain club equipment supplies and purchase new training equipment for use by all teams.
Cromer CC wish to thank the Social Committee led by Amanda Holland and Ben Bana and assisted by Greg Rollins
and Matt Gillett for their assistance in organising the evening. Thankyou also to all the volunteers who helped setting
and packing up the hall and with various jobs throughout the night. Thanks must also go to our wonderfully supportive local
businesses who donated a stack of prizes.
Congratulations to "The Nevilles" for running out winners on the night. Stay tuned for further pictures and results from what was a fantastic fundraising event for the club!
